Last week, the first two, ADR-approved electric trucks from Scania’s plant for electric trucks arrived to Wibax. This means that the chemical supplier’s electrification journey is now one step closer to 100%. “After a successful period of using Scania’s pre-series model, we are delighted and excited to finally get started”, says Jonas Wiklund, CEO, Wibax Group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A year and a half ago, Wibax presented its new, ambitious environmental goals \u2013 a 100 per cent fossil-free electric vehicle fleet powered by 100 per cent self-produced electricity. When the first electric 64-tonne truck from Scania began transporting chemicals for Wibax in 2022, it was the world\u2019s first truly heavy and ADR-approved truck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vehicle, which belonged to Scania’s pre-series model, has now been joined by the first two mass-produced units. For Wibax, they will be stationed at the terminals in H\u00e4rn\u00f6sand and Skutsk\u00e4r and will carry out deliveries to nearby industrial customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”Both we and our colleagues in the industry have been waiting for the production of heavy electric trucks to properly take off. Our close collaboration with Scania has enabled us to be part of developing what we are convinced is the future,” says Jonas Wiklund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At present, Wibax has three electric trucks in total. This corresponds to five per cent of its vehicle fleet, and by 2030, it aims to have this fleet 100 per cent electrified. An additional two trucks are expected at the beginning of 2025, one of which will be stationed in Finland, where Wibax is also a true pioneer in the electrification of heavy vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

”In Finland, as far as we know, we will be the first to have an electric ADR-approved truck. We are happy to lead the way in the industry’s transition. We want to demonstrate that this is possible and that we all need to do our part in building the future we wish to have.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has been three years since Scania’s 64-tonne electric truck was delivered to Wibax, and now two more electric tractor units are on their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
