It\u2019s now official. Scania is to deliver 105 electric trucks and accompanying digital services to Wibax \u2013 a record-breaking deal and a milestone in the goal of electrifying the vehicle fleet.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The agreement between Wibax and Scania is an exclusivity agreement and runs over the next five years and marks an important step for Wibax, which has set itself the goal of switching to a fully electric vehicle fleet. It is the single largest purchase of electric trucks for bulk transport in the EU and forms part of the long-term partnership the two companies began in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal now takes the partnership into its next phase, aimed at optimising total operating costs while reducing climate impact. The vehicle deliveries are part of a deeper cooperation agreement between Wibax and Scania that also covers maintenance, charging solutions and digital services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A key part of Wibax\u2019 electrification drive \u2013 and something the agreement with Scania makes possible \u2013 is data-driven planning and monitoring. The company will now be able to analyse driving patterns, route planning and energy consumption, for example. This will ultimately lead to a better-sized fleet that can be deployed in a better, more efficient way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis agreement is absolutely crucial if we are to reach our environmental target of having our vehicles 100 per cent electrified. Scania is a good, stable partner that we have a history with, which matters given the scale of the deal,\u201d says Jonas Wiklund, CEO of Wibax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already in 2021, an active electrification collaboration with Scania started and a technical exchange has been developing between them ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are delighted to sign this agreement with Wibax, which shares Scania\u2019s goal of cutting carbon emissions from transport while improving operational efficiency. We see it as proof of Wibax\u2019 confidence in Scania as a reliable partner for scaling up their eMobility operations,\u201d says Tobias Ejderhamn, Sr. Manager, Transformation & New Business, Scania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In other words, there is already a natural connection between Scania and Wibax \u2013 one that has created, and will continue to create, strong conditions for joint development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe want to electrify our heavy vehicle fleet quickly, and with Scania we can make sure we bring in the new technology as soon as possible, so that we reach electrification within the timetable we have set,\u201d says Magnus Sundstr\u00f6m, Chief Logistics officer Wibax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonas Wiklund believes the newly signed agreement means the truck fleet will no longer be a limiting factor for Wibax in its continued work towards the company\u2019s overarching environmental targets, which are set for 2030 \u2013 but he adds that it is also about creating a commercial edge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


\u201cWe are convinced this will give us a commercial advantage through lower overheads over the long term. That allows us to offer our customers a more sustainable and affordable product,\u201d Jonas Wiklund concludes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
