Methanol is a toxic industrial alcohol used as a solvent/pesticide and as an alternative fuel source.
Within pulp- and paper industry methanol (CH 3 OH) is used for the production of chlorine dioxide. Sewage treatment plants also use the product as an additive in wastewater, to stimulate the biological steps of the micro-organisms.
