Wibax set up to meet the needs of the market Wibax was set up in 1986 by Bo Wiklund, the company's founder and owner. The company was launched in order to work with chemicals from the pulp industry for distribution and sale on the market – a new and important business area. The acquisition of a tanker terminal for the storage of liquid chemicals proved to be of strategically crucial importance for further development. Wibax has now developed into a high-tech knowledge-based company that works on solving its customers' problems and developing industrial processes.
From the very beginning the company has experienced a very powerful expansion based on the considerable confidence of by its customers. In order to cope with large increases in volumes and to guarantee deliveries, Wibax made considerable investments in increasing storage capacity and optimising its logistics. Efficient storage and transport has been a key word in the development of Wibax from the very beginning, and it continues to play an essential role. Over the years an ever-increasing number of new products has been included in an expanding range in increasing volumes. Soon Wibax also became a retailer on the Nordic market for international chemical producers – an important addition to the company's own products.
A deliberate concentration of the company's efforts on R&D and the production of often unique, specialised products requiring expertise resulted in a new and strong expansion. The development work was carried out in close collaboration with the company's customers. Problem-solving, process-optimisation and customised applications were all developed to produce a distinctive skills area.
Wibax now has a turnover of approx. SEK 500 million and it supplies some one hundred chemical products.

1986 - Wibax is founded by Bo Wiklund 1989 - Terminal for warehousing 10,000 m3 of liquid products is acquired in Örnsköldsvik - Wibax becomes part owner of a chemical haulage firm 1992 - A property with a floor space of 2,300 m2 is purchased in Piteå, which then becomes the head office and base for Wibax 1994 - The terminal in Örnsköldsvik is expanded to 40,000 m3 1996 - Production facility for dissolving dry products is built in Piteå - ISO 9002 Quality Certification 1998 - ISO 14001 Environmental Certification – Introduction of a department for safety and protection 1999 - Terminal commissioned in Oxelösund - Two terminals with storage cisterns purchased in Skelleftehamn 2000 - Acquisition of terminal in Uddevalla - Completion of production line for WIDAQ 2002 - Wibax Tech AB is set up 2004 - Expansion in Piteå (600 m2) for production - Acquisition of neighbouring property (8,600 m2) together with its buildings 2005 - Production of aluminium sulphate (WiAl) starts in Piteå 2006 - Upgrade to A-facility in Piteå 2007 - New washing and service hall for heavy vehicles completed 2008 - Third depot purchased in Skellefteå, with storage cisterns providing a storage capacity of 84,000 cubic metres - Purchase of a terminal with storage cistern at Haraholmen in Piteå 2009 - Investment in increasing production of WiAl+ by 100% - Purchase of a second terminal at Haraholmen in Piteå - Wibax increases its purchase of raw materials by means of direct deals in China - Wibax invests in new port terminal in Norrköping - Wibax supplies more than 500,000 tonnes of chemicals in the course of the year 2010 - Increased concentration on vegetable oils - Number of employees increases to hundred and twenty work years. - Wibax has an office in Stockholm. - Wibax invest 70-80 million to expand terminals and properties in Norrköping and Piteå. The own production increased. - Extension of office in Piteå in progress, an additional floor being built. - Lorry Park extends to about 31 own truck rig. - Approximately 100 000 tons shipped over the railway from central Europe and in Sweden.
2011 - WIBAX celebrates 25 years!
